Hey Judy, I don't think ads are a solution at all. First -- in order for an ad to pay, viewers generally have to click on it, which means they leave. I do not want to lose readers to ads. Hard enough getting views here without blinking ads to take readers away.

Second reason is that about a year ago, Medium had 700K paying members and a monthly income of 3.5 million. I have no idea what that number is today, but it makes me think cash flow isn't the issue here. The issue is how it's doled out, not the money itself.
