Germany has taken a hard line on fascism and hate because of the holocaust. There is no flying a swastika or wearing it on a shirt there. And it's damn time they acknowledged the atrocities that LGBTQ people suffered at their hands.

But we cannot forget that Hitler learned from America. That's where he got his ideas of racial supremacy and annihilation of anyone perceived as other. And America is still doing it. There are people wearing swastikas in America and people Hitler would have called "undesirables" are still suffering daily torment in America. Black people and LGBTQ most visibly.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with so many Americans that they look the other way or worse, condone it. I could say religion, but I suspect that only applies to some of them. I suspect a lot of people who cite religious reasons really just use the bible as a weapon with which to clobber the people they've judged and found wanting.

The stuff going on in America is deplorable. Thank you for writing about it day after day.
