Funny — I had one daughter and the other two didn’t make it to term, too. Also had two stepsons for a decade, until that fell apart. Stepmothers are sometimes left by the wayside. You’re absolutely right, all we can do is make the best of whatever time we have. Your mom sounds amazing.
