Dan, I love 99% of this. People make the same mistake in marketing. They do what they see everyone else doing and then get what everyone else gets. Which is mostly poor results.
But this last sentence? We have to stop talking about "followers" like it's a negative.
Leadership is a very specific skillset. Not everyone is cut out for leadership. Some of the most important people do not desire leadership, nor possess the skillset it requires.
For example -- the detail oriented people are not leaders. The troubleshooters are not leaders. So many roles and leadership is only one of them.
For the beginning part - kudos. Yes indeed. We can't emulate the crowd and stand out of it at the same time.
