As someone who writes on feminism now and then, I have much experience with people who don’t even bother trying to be nice, so I do appreciate when people strive to be polite in comments. I also think it’s entirely possible to be both honest and polite. Most people manage to do that in the workplace just fine, especially to their boss, but forget how when they get to Medium.
In the case of the article you referred to, I think it would have been perfectly okay to post and say the sites linked don’t take unsolicited articles so the title is incorrect. If it was me, I’d probably highlight the title and comment on the title itself to be sure readers see the notation.
