And under the water there will be mermaids and mermen.

I will be the old man in the boat. Holding a set of oars, looking northward. A gust of wind will ride up the gunwale and salty ocean will spray my mouth. It will be cold. I will be alone. Looking at a darkening sky, trusting nothing while looking in the distance, rowing to a place they will not follow.

And under the water there will be mermaids and mermen. Some will be trying to tip the boat. Some will be trying to entice you into the water. And some very small number will be trying to help steer the boat as you navigate towards the lighthouse that beckons off in the distance. Keep rowing.
