And there's the rub. What IS their profession? For example, a Federal judge said Trucker Carlson is, first and foremost, not a provider of “the news” as we know it, or “facts” as we commonly understand them. He is entertainment.
We also know most people can't tell the difference between "real" news and Russian bots. So how do we know whose word should be protected?
This is an internet problem. Before the internet, journalists wrote for news and print media. They had some level of protection, but the publisher also had some level of liability.
None of that exists anymore. And when people use names like Anderson Cooper and Trucker Carlson in the same breath (not meaning you) it seems to me the world has gone to hell in a handbasket and no one knows who to believe anymore, much less who should be protected.
Sorry that was so long. lol
