And because sometimes they are interested, but afraid, and that fear is legitimate and real. Those who speak out against the powers that be are often ostracized at best, punished at worst.

When your paycheck depends on pretending the system works, that it’s not corrupt, that the people above you in the pecking order aren’t power hungry, it’s often easier to keep your mouth shut. And so a lot of people do.

Instead, they watch, read and clap for people like you because they don’t know what else to do without rocking their own boat and tipping their entire family into the ocean where the sharks swim wild.
